Label details: ‘N. Zealand, Mrs. Dunn’.
Type locality: ‘New Zealand’ ( Gray 1840: 317).
Previous illustrations of type material: Smith (1874: pl. 1, fig. 7). The shell illustrated by Pfeiffer (1852 [in 1852–1860]: pl. 127, figs. 33–35) may be type material.
Remarks: The original description was based on one or more specimens collected by James Busby and donated to the British Museum by Mrs Dunn ( Gray 1840: 317). Helix dunniae Gray, 1840 is the type species of Amborhytida Climo, 1974 , by original designation.
Current Taxonomy: Listed as Amborhytida dunniae ( Gray, 1840) by Spencer et al. (2006: 838) and Spencer et al. (2009: 218).
Distribution: New Zealand; northern North Island, from Kaitaia to Auckland ( Powell 1979; Spencer et al. 2006).
