19. Adapantus angulatus sp. n.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A, D, I; 8C–D; 12D)

Type locality. — GUINEA: Guinee Forestiere, Simandou Mts., nr. Banko, Camp 2 (8°31'29''N, 8°56'12''W), 590–700 m, 3–7.xii.2002, leg. P. Naskrecki—male holotype ( ANSP)

Differential diagnosis. — In the general appearance this species is similar to A. osorioi Bolivar , but differs markedly in the development of the male stridulatory area (no mirror on the left tegmen) and the shape of the male cercus. It resembles A. nitens Chopard in the structure of the male stridulatory area, but differs strongly in the shape of the male cercus, body size, and coloration.

General. — Body of medium size, robust.

Head. — Frons flat. Antennae more than twice as long as body; fastigium of vertex triangular, not surpassing antennal sockets, grooved. Scapus with apical spine.

Thorax. — Lateral lobe wider than high; metazona flat; posterior edge of prozona straight; pronotum surface weakly granulate. Prosternum unarmed.

Legs. — Genicular lobes of front femur unarmed; genicular lobes of hind femur unarmed; mid tibia unarmed dorsally.

Wings. — Tegmen slightly surpassing apex of abdomen; veins Sc and R converging towards apex of tegmen; vein Rs branching off in apical third of tegmen; left stridulatory area coriaceous, without mirror (fig. 8C); right stridulatory area with small, circular mirror (fig. 8D). Stridulatory file elevated on thickened vein; weakly bent, with 122 lamelliform teeth, 1.6 mm long, 0.15 mm wide (fig. 3I). Hind wing as long as tegmen.

Abdomen. — Cercus unarmed, angularly bent; apex tapering (fig. 3A); styli cylindrical, more than 3 times as long as wide; subgenital plate with small, triangular apical incision (fig. 3D).

Coloration. — Coloration light brown; face without darker markings; hind wing hyaline; occiput without markings; tegmen without markings (fig. 12D).

Measurements (1 male). — body w/wings: 35; body w/o wings: 32; pronotum: 6.1; tegmen: 27; hind femur: 18 mm.

Material examined. — Guinea: Guinee Forestiere, Simandou Mts., nr. Banko, Camp 2, elev. 590–700 m (8°31'29''N, 8°56'12''W), 3–7.xii.2002, leg. P. Naskrecki— 1 male (holotype) ( ANSP).

Etymology. — The specific epithet angulatus (Lat.) refers to the shape of the distinctly bent male cerci.
