Lectotype (Howe in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 39: 201. 1912; Kärnefelt in Opera Bot. 46: 98. 1979): Herb. Linn. No. 1273.97, lowermost specimen ( LINN) .

Current name: Cetraria islandica (L.) Ach. ( Parmeliaceae).

Note: See review by Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 322, 377, f. 38. 1994). Howe’s original type choice was subsequently restricted to one specimen by Kärnefelt.
