Anchastus LeConte, 1853 View in CoL View at ENA .
Prior to 2018, the single Montana species of this genus, Anchastus cinereipennis (Eschscholtz) , was known by a single specimen collected by pitfall trap from Toole Co. ( Seibert 1993). A pitfall trap and colored pan traps have collected more specimens since 2018 in other counties ( Fig. 11 View Fig ), with pan traps being the most productive. This highlights that variable collecting methods are required to have accurate species representation of the elaterid fauna within a state. Although reported as economically important in other states, A. cinereipennis does not appear so in Montana.
