Erect subshrub; leaves unifoliolate; inflorescence sessile, with up to 5 flowers of 20 mm long, laxly arranged.
Selected specimen: — BRAZIL. Mato Grosso: Campo Verde , 19 October 1995, G. Hatschbach 63532 (MBM) .
Distribution: —Endemic to Brazil (MT).
Habitat and ecology:—Cerrado biome, growing in open grassland, often appearing after a burn, on clay and sandy soils. The species is rare, and forms only small populations. Illustrations in Burkart (1971, p. 761).
Phenology:— flowering and fruiting from September to February.
