Galactia latisiliqua var. orbicularis Burkart (1971: 693) View in CoL . Type : — ARGENTINA. Córdoba : río Terrero, Burkart 13346 (holotype SI), syn. nov.
Erect or prostrate subshrub, apex twining; leaves pinnately trifoliolate, coriaceous, pilose; inflorescences with flowers 7–12 mm long, laxly arranged.
Selected specimen: — BRAZIL. Rio Grande do Sul: Unistalda , 19 February 2009, M. Grings 559 (ICN) .
Distribution: —widespread in South America, from the Guianas to Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil (BA, ES, MG, MS, PR, RJ, RS, SP).
Habitat and ecology:—found in almost all Brazilian biomes, growing in dry grassland and along forest edges; at elevations of 100–1200 m, on clay and rocky soils, on steep slopes. Common.
Notes:—we do not recognise Burkart`s (1971) infraspecific taxa.
Phenology:— Flowering and fructification from September to February.
