Occurrence: restricted to the Mediterranean Sea ( Mortensen 1943a).

Depth: 4–100 m ( Tortonese 1965).

Habitat: on rocky substrates and Posidonia prairies to muddy substrates where it feeds on animal matter ( Mortensen 1943a).

Larval stage: planktotrophic ( Emlet 1995).
