Holotypus: PARAGUAY. Alto Paraná: “Ad marg. silvae pr. Vaq. Capibary” , IX.1898 -1899, Hassler, E. 4454 ( G [ G00103930 ]!).
P. sericea var. paraguariensis: Pedersen determina el holótipo Hassler 4454 como P. tuberosa indicando: “ forma monstrosa floribus deformatis”. Aparentemente este nombre no ha sido nunca puesto en sinonimia lo que efectuamos aquí.
