The male is known from a single male described by Mavromoustakis (1936), but the specimen could not be located in cMav or NHMUK, where the majority of Mavromoustakis ’ material is deposited.

Distribution

Identification Key

The identification key given by Kasparek (2017) for the genus Trachusa View in CoL can be modified for females in the following way:

1 Body entirely black ............................................................................................................................... 2 Body with yellow colouration on metasoma (if yellow colouration on terga inconspicuousı then also clypeus yellow)................................................................................................ 3

2 Mandible with three teeth (one large tooth and two smaller, flattened teeth which are often not clearly separated from each other); subantennal suture straight; axillae fused with scutellum, scutellum without median emargination; body with dense pubescence (Palaearctic)....................................... ....................................... T. (Trachusa) byssina View in CoL Mandible with five equidistant teeth (one large and four smaller teeth decreasing in size from distal to proximal) or with one large apical tooth and an edentate tooth ridge (some undulations may indicate teeth); subantennal suture arcuate outward; axillae clearly separated from scutellum, scutellum notched in the middle; terga with only scattered hair (Indomalayan)................................................................................................. 2a

2a One apical tooth and four discrete inner teeth; inner half of the forewing strongly brown infuscated, outer half milky white; distance between punctures on T2 one to two times their diameter; marginal area of T2 dark brown, narrow impunctate margin ......................................................................................................................... T. (Paraanthidium) ovata One View in CoL apical tooth and an edentate tooth ridge (some undulations indicate merged teeth); fore wing light brown infuscated with the area beyond the wing cells somewhat lighter than the inner two thirds of the wing; distance between punctures on T2 one to two times their diameter, marginal area of T2 black, relatively wide impunctate margin ...........................................................................
