Type species: Neosyringophilopsis acanthizus Skoracki and Sikora, 2005 , by original designation.
Members of this genus inhabit quills of primaries, secondaries and coverts. They are mainly associated with passeriform birds from the families: Acanthizidae , Aegithalidae , Estrildidae , Leiothrichidae , Locustellidae , Phylloscopidae , and Troglodytidae . One species of this genus has been noted on representatives of piciform birds of the family Lybiidae .
The Nearctic fauna comprises only one of the eight described species in this genus, N. troglodytis ( Fritsch, 1958) .
