Type locality: tidal channel near Quarantine Is., Otago Harbour, New Zealand, 3–4m, in Ostrea lutaria shell, Perna canaliculus shell.
Type material: Holotype: A72: 8A, Otago Museum, Dunedin; Paratypes: A72: 8B; A72: 8C; A72: 8D).
Location and author of most recently described material: 1) Western Australia (Albany), in Saccostrea commercialis (= S. glomerata ) ( Sato-Okoshi et al. 2008); 2) Tasman Bay, New Zealand ( Handley 2000) (larvae); no Australian material examined.
Recorded distribution: Australia: south-west Western Australia (Albany). New Zealand (Otago Harbour); Chile ( Moreno et al. 2006).
