Somniosus pacificus Bigelow & Schroeder, 1944: 35 View in CoL . Holotype: MCZ 1103-S (piece of skin and part of jaw), juvenile male, 191 cm (75") TL, Sagami Sea, Japan. Holotype is based on the specimen described and illustrated as brevipinna View in CoL by Garman, 1913: 240, pl. 15, fig. 1–3.
Local synonymy: Somniosus pacificus: Wang & Yang, 2004: 229 View in CoL , fig. 2.
Taiwan voucher material: (2 spec.) NMMB-P 15786 (tissue accession GN10248 ), Cheng-gong , Taitung, 23 Dec 2010 ; NMMB-P 15714 (tissue accession GN10249 ), Cheng-gong , Taitung, 2 Oct 2011 .
Remarks: A rare bycatch by local deep-sea fisheries.
