Chimarra mawsmaiensis sp. nov.

Diagnosis: The male genitalia of this species is close to those of Chimarra suadulla Malicky & Chantramongkol 1993b , C. devva Malicky & Chantramongkol 1993b and C. ravanna Malicky & Chantramongkol 1993b from Thailand in general appearance of genitalia, especially to C. devva and C. suadulla in dorsal view. However, in C. mawsmaiensis sp. nov. the mesal lobes of tergum X are smaller than the sclerotized lateral lobes of tergum X in dorsal view (which are longer than lateral lobes of tergum X in dorsal view in C. suadulla ). Moreover, the phallotremal sclerite complex is very long and triangular in ventral view in C. mawsmaiensis , whereas the phallotremal complex is smaller and fork-like in C. devva . In C. suadulla , the mesal lobes of tergum X are almost half the length of the lateral lobes in dorsal view, whereas the mesal lobes are almost equal to the lateral lobes of tergum X in C. mawsmaiensis . Moreover, there are clear differences visible in the shape, number and position of the endothecal spines and phallotremal complex of these latter two species.
Description (male only): Length of each forewing 5.50 mm (n=10). Color in alcohol, entirely fulvous and body surface covered with dense, short and fulvous pubescence. Maxillary palps 1.45 mm long (n=10), segment 3 distinctly longer than 2, 3 subequal to 5; labial palpi 0.97 mm long (n=10). Forewing venation: Stem of Rs curved, with sclerotized node at inflection; fork at base of discoidal cell distinctly thickened, length of discoidal cell about 2.5 times width; crossvein m proximal to crossveins s and r-m; vein 2A intersecting 3A ( Figs. 44, 45 View FIGURES 42 – 51 ).
Male genitalia ( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURES 1 – 9 , 32–34 View FIGURES 23 – 35 ): Sternum VIII without posteroventral process. Segment IX with tergum short, forming narrow transverse bridge dorsally; anteroventral margin in lateral view bluntly produced and anterolateral margins deeply concave; posterolateral margins nearly smooth; short posteroventral process projecting posteroventrad. Inferior appendages slightly longer than tergum X, obliquely directed upward, apically rounded, each with curved apical spine; in ventral view broadly rounded laterally, inner margin almost straight, with apicomesal sclerotized tooth-like projection. Tergum X with sclerotized pairs of lateral and mesal lobes; lateral lobes each moderately long, in lateral view each with narrow apex, wedge-shaped, bearing multiple sensilla; mesal lobes elongate, digitate, directed posterodorsad. Preanal appendages setose, broadest basally in dorsal view. Phallic apparatus with sclerotized portion long, nearly cylindrical in lateral view ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 23 – 35 ), phallobase tubular, without basodorsal expansion; phallotheca rounded apically; 3 slender, endothecal spines visible in lateral view distal of phallotremal sclerite; phallotremal sclerite very long, almost triangular in ventral view ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 23 – 35 ); in lateral view with spine-like structure directed posterolaterad inside retracted phallotheca.
Female: Not known.
Material examined: Holotype: 3, INDIA: Meghalaya: Cherrapunjee, 25°18’N, 91°42’E, 1,300 m, 24-v-2010, Pandher, deposited in PUPM. Paratypes: Same data as holotype, 93, deposited in PUPM.
Distribution: India (Meghalaya).
Etymology: This species is named after the Mawsmai Caves located in Cherrapunjee.
