Global distribution: Mexico to Colombia, Greater Antilles. Records: D. Santamaría 3501 ( INB). Uses: timber. Regional conservation status: Least Concern ( LC) .

This species was identified as an undescribed species by Kriebel and Umaña in the Manual de Plantas de Costa Rica (Hammel et al., in press).
