Chelaner gilberti medioruber — Monomorium gilberti var. mediorubra Forel, 1915: 72
This name was combined with Chelaner as C. mediorubrus by Ettershank (1966). With Monomorium (neuter), the correct form is mediorubrum. Forel’s “mediorubra” is an incorrect gender ending in the original combination that is mandatorily corrected to Monomorium gilberti mediorubrum (Art. 34.2.1).
With Chelaner View in CoL (masculine), the correct form is medioruber. Ettershank’s “mediorubrus ” is a grammatical error ( “rubrus ” is not a correct Latin form) and is an unjustified emendation. The taxon is treated as a junior synonym of M. gilberti ( Heterick, 2001) View in CoL .
