Geographic and bathymetric range. Western Atlantic (southeastern Florida, Bahamas, western Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean coast from Mexico to Venezuela, Antillean Arc from Cuba to Barbados and the Grenadines, and Brazil), at depths from 1 to 344 m ( Meyer et al. 1978; Herrera-Moreno & Betancourt-Férnandez 2004; Alvarado 2011; Benavides-Serrato et al. 2012).
Brazilian localities. Paraíba, Pernambuco, Bahia, and São Paulo (A.H. Clark 1931; Tommasi 1963, 1965,
1969a, 1971a).
