Notes. Hister spinipes Marseul was originally moved to the genus Pachylister by Lewis (1904), but this placement was rejected by Bickhardt (1919). From then on, the species has always been placed in the genus Hister (e.g., Mazur 1997) and only recently it has been moved again to the genus Pachylister ( Mazur 2004) .

08. Hister gehini Marseul ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 )
Distribution: Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Niger, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Republic of South Africa, Yemen ( Gomy 2004).
Chorology: Afrotropical (widespread).
Literature. Yemen: above Dhala [13°41’48”N 44°43’51”E], west of town, 1500– 1700 m, 14.IX.1937, 1 ex. ( Müller 1954); Wadi Sharez [a few km east of Hajjah, 15°41’36”N 43°36’11”E], II.1985, cow dung, 1 ♂ ( Gomy 2004).
Notes. In the distribution given by Gomy (2004), “ Saudi Arabia ” is reported in accordance with Mazur (1987), but it is an error due to a misunderstanding of the locality cited by Müller (Mazur, pers. comm.). In fact, the town of Dhala is located not in Saudi Arabia, but in Yemen, about 200 km south of Sana’a.
