Discussion: Groves (1982) and Flannery et al. (1995 b) divided the genus into a plesiomorphic group ( D. lumholtzi , D. inustus ) and a derived group, among which D. dorianus and D. scottae , and perhaps D. mbaiso , are the most strongly derived. D. bennettianus occupies an isolated position in the genus.
