Basionym:— Calamus nuichuaensis Henderson et al. (2008: 196).
Type :—VIETNAM. Ninh Thuan : Ninh Hai District, Nui Chua National Park, near summit of mountain, forest on rocky slopes, 11 ° 48 ’N, 109°10’E, ca. 800 m, 27 July 2007, A. Henderson, N.K. Ban, & A R. Cui 3468 (holotype: HN!, isotypes: K! NY!) GoogleMaps .

The transfer of these two species brings the number of Daemonorops in Vietnam to five: D. jenkinsiana (Griffith) Martius (1853: 327), D. poilanei Dransfield (2001: 663), D. mollispina Dransfield (2001: 662), D. fissilis and D. nuichuaensis. All but D. jenkinsiana are endemic to Vietnam and belong to section Piptospatha. Recent field work revealed another two species new to science, making a total of seven Daemonorops for Vietnam.
