Distribution: NW Oregon ( USA).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Otisorex ; S. vagrans complex ( Carraway, 1990; Demboski and Cook, 2001). This taxon has been alternatively referred to obscurus, vagrans , and monticulus, but was given specific rank by Carraway (1990). Includes permiliensis as a valid subspecies ( Alexander, 1996; Carraway, 1990).
