Lectotype ( Børgesen in J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 39: 119, pl. 9. 1909): Herb. Linn. No. 1274.53 ( LINN) .

Current name: Fucus spiralis L. ( Fucaceae ).

Note: See Powell (in Brit. Phycol. Bull. 2: 17. 1960), who mistakenly concluded that Børgesen’s chosen type was not original material for the name.
