Eutetranychus africanus (Tucker)
Anychus africanus Tucker, 1926: 5 View in CoL , pl. 4, figs. A–G. [Type locality: Durban, Natal; type host: orange, lemon and frangipani]
Eutetranychus africanus: Meyer, 1974: 149 , figs. 624–634, fig. 1175. Euteranychus orientalis (nec Klein, 1936): Ehara & Yogi, 1998: p. 530, figs. 1–5; Ehara, 1999: 77.
The Japanese mite has so far been referred to as E. orientalis in error. It should be identified as E. africanus by having coxa II with 2 instead of 1 tactile seta.
Specimens examined. A number of specimens from Okinawa Island, Tsuken I, and Miyako I., on many plant species including papaya and citrus ( Ehara, 1999).
