Revised description. Small, moderately slender fusiform shell of up to seven teleoconch whorls with conical to weakly cyrtoconoid spire; apical angle ~40°. Protoconch broad conical of 2.5 convex whorls, diameter 750 μm, height 700 μm. Last protoconch whorl with prominent, slightly opisthocyrt axial riblets. First teleoconch whorl convex with broad, widely spaced axial ribs, overrun by three spiral cords. Later whorls weakly convex with deeply incised suture; periphery close above abapical suture. Prominent, widely spaced axial ribs aligned axially in slightly prosocline lines (seven axial ribs on last whorl). Spiral sculpture of three prominent spiral cords, slightly swollen on axial ribs, obsolete in axial interspaces. Delicate spiral threads intercalated between primary cords. One or two weak spiral cords may occur between abapical suture and lowermost primary cord. Last whorl attaining 55% of total height, regularly convex, strongly constricted base; axial ribs prominent along periphery, fading over base; three primary spiral cords plus 6-8 weaker widely spaced cords over base; fasciole indistinct. Aperture moderately wide, pyriform. Columella deeply excavated in adapical half, with three columellar folds on abapical half. lowermost fold marking angled transition to siphonal canal. Columellar callus weak, forming narrow rim along siphonal canal, not delimited from base in parietal area.Anal canal distinctly incised, moderately narrow, accentuated by strong parietal denticle. Outer lip thickened by terminal varix, with about five prominent lirae starting in some distance behind peristome. Siphonal canal moderately long, narrow, straight, deflected to the left.

Discussion. This species is characterized by its peculiar sculpture of broad axial ribs aligned axially along the teleoconch in continuous prosocline lines and the very prominent spiral cords overriding the ribs and obsolete in the axial interspaces. Kovács (2022) synonymized Turrilatirus moravicus (Hoernes & Auinger, 1890) with ‘ Latirus ’ patruelis Bellardi, 1884 , from the Burdigalian of Baldissero (Colli Torinesi, Italy). The two species are undoubtedly closely related. However, we prefer to keep them as separate as the Italian species is significantly larger (SL 20 mm vs. 11.5–14.2 mm) and the spiral cords seem not to become obsolete in the axial interspaces. We have only seen images of the holotype of the Italian species (see Bellardi 1884: 44, pl. 2, figs 21a–b; Ferrero Mortara et al. 1981: 144, pl. 39, fig. 6), and await further material to reach a more definitive conclusion. If they turn out to be conspecific, Turrilatirus patruelis will have priority over T. moravicus .

Paleoenvironment. Probably inner neritic. At the Niederleis section, sediment and fossils from coastal and lagoonal environments not exceeding 30 m water depth were transported by tempestites into offshore settings ( Mandic et al. 2002). Similarly, the occurrence at Letkés ( Hungary) points to inner neritic environments with corals ( Kovács & Vicián 2014).
