‘Fusus’ elongatus sensu Wolff, 1897 non Nyst, 1845

Fusus elongatus Nyst View in CoL — Wolff 1897: 281, pl. 26, fig. 30 [non Streptochetus elongatus ( Nyst, 1845) ].

Discussion. The stout fusiform shell illustrated by Wolff (1897) has very little in common with the slender Streptochetus elongatus from the Oligocene of the North Sea Basin. Wolff (1897) mentioned a distinct columellar fold and an anal denticle. We have not seen the material and refrain from giving it a generic assignment.

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Eggenburgian/Ottnangian (Early Miocene): North Alpine Foreland Basin: Thalberggraben ( Germany) ( Wolff 1897).
