‘Fusus’ cinctus Hölzl View in CoL in Steininger, 1973 non Bellardi & Michelotti, 1840
* Fusus View in CoL ( Fusinus View in CoL ?) clavatus View in CoL cinctus View in CoL nov. subspec. —Hölzl in Steininger 1973: 429 [non
Fusus cinctus Bellardi & Michelotti, 1840 View in CoL ].
Type material. The holotype was in the private collection of Otto Hölzl (1897–1977) and is now probably stored in the Landesamt für Umwelt in Hof ( Germany). We have not been able to trace the specimen, as no response came to our request .
Discussion. The name Fusus cinctus is preoccupied by Bellardi & Michelotti (1840) for a fasciolariid from the Italian Miocene. Therefore, the specimen from Bavaria needs a new name. Hölzl in Steininger (1973) did not illustrate this species and as we have not seen the type material, we refrain from introducing a replacement name.
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Ottnangian (Early Miocene): North Alpine Foreland Basin: Kaltenbachgraben ( Germany) ( Steininger 1973).
