Material studied. JAPAN, Okinawa Prefecture: 1 ex., Iriomote-jima, Komi , 7– 11.04.2005, FIT, leg. T. Fukuzawa (cPJ); 2 exx., Ishigaki-jima, Kabira env., roadside in subtropical forest, 18.01.2017, leg. P. Jałoszyński (cPJ) .
Distribution. Japan: Ryukyus: Yaeyama Islands: Iriomote-jima and Ishigaki-jima.
Remarks. This large-bodied species (adults reaching 2.12–2.21 mm of body length) inhabits the SW islands of the Ryukyus, Iriomote-jima and Ishigaki-jima, where it can be collected in lowland forests by sifting leaf litter in moist places. The aedeagus of S. totoro is similar to that of S. totoroides and S. bifurcatus , but the lateral endophallic sclerites projecting from the ostium are branched ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11–12 ); see Remarks for the latter species.
