Herb 0.6–1.7 m tall. Pulvinus 2.3–5.1 cm long. Leaf blade 36–47 × 16–22 cm, oblique (apex displacement 3– 5.2 cm), length from base to broadest part 11–17 cm.

Distribution and habitat:—Known from Bahia and northern Espírito Santo, Brazil, where it occurs in primary and somewhat disturbed lowland forests, on terra firme and ± swampy ground.
