Taxonomy:—The world checklist of Poaceae treats this species as a synonym of S. robusta (Clayton et al. 2016) , whereas in the Euro+Med Plantbase it is accepted as a subspecies of S. robusta : S. robusta subsp. skanderbeggii ( Valdés & Scholz 2009) .
