DISTRIBUTION. — South Africa (490 m) and the area between New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Tonga, empty shells in 295-575 m depth. No living specimens have been collected so far.
REMARKS. — Protoconch of 3 conical whorls, 710 Μm high, 690 Μm wide at the base. Protoconch-I of 0.9 whorls, sculptured with pustules over the entire surface. Protoconch-II of 2.1 whorls, with 2 spiral keels, sculptured by a series of subsutural prosocline threads and a series of tubercules over each keel. Threads on the last protoconch whorl tending to fuse into collabral ribs.
Babelomurex glaber differs from all known forms in the B. kawamurai (Kira, 1959) group (including those from other regions such as B. sentix (Bayer, 1971) from the Atlantic Ocean) by its smooth shell surface, devoid of obvious spiral sculpture, and by its sharp peripheral spines.

DISTRIBUTION. — Western Pacific : from Kii Peninsula , Japan, to South China Sea, Philippines, Australia, “ 30-150 m, rocks” (Higo et al. 1999: 219; Tsuchiya 2000: 407). Now extented to the Coral Sea, New Caledonia, Norfolk and Loyalty Ridges, Futuna Island and Tonga, empty shells in 120-410 m.
REMARKS. — Protoconch of 2.1 conical whorls, 700 Μm high, 790 Μm wide at the base. Protoconch-I of 0.8 whorls, sculptured with pustules over the entire surface. Protoconch-II of 1.3 whorls, with 2 spiral keels, sculptured by threads, nodulose over each keel. Threads prosocline between the suture and the adapical keel, then opisthocline, giving rise to chevron-shaped collabral ribs. The same protoconch form is shared by specimens from the Philippines and a topotypic shell (South China Sea, MO).
