Type material. Holotype male, CHINA: Jiangxi Province, Nanchang County, Poyang Lake , 12.vi.2004, light trap, C.C. Yan ( BDN No. 22070) . Paratypes: 2 males, as holotype.
Etymology. From Latin, margo, margin, border, referring to the pigment marks on the margin of postnotum.
Diagnostic characters. The species can be distinguished from other members of the genus by the unique color pattern on thorax and legs.
Male (n = 3). Total length 4.88–5.15 mm. Wing length 2.43–2.45 mm. Total length / wing length 2.0– 2.12. Wing length / length of profemur 2.16–2.20.
Coloration. Head including antenna brown. Thorax brown, with margin of postnotum black ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 3–6 ). Abdomen brown; tergite III with median oval dark area; tergites IV and VI with single broad dark band; hypopygium brown ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 3–6 ). Legs brown; apex of all tibiae dark brown; apex of fore ta 2 and mid- and hind ta 3 dark brown; fore ta 3–5 and mid- and hind ta 4–5 dark brown. Wing with marginal area of R–M dark ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 3–6 ).
Head. AR 2.83–3.03. Temporal setae 20 including 18 verticals and 2 postorbitals. Clypeus with 36 setae. Tentorium 200–235 µm long, 60–65 µm wide. Palpomere lengths (in µm): 60, 75–80, 140–155, 220–235, 280–335.
Wing ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 3–6 ). VR 1.05–1.07. Costal extension 60–65 µm long. Brachiolum with 2 long setae. Squama with 32–40 setae.
Thorax. Antepronotals 2, dorsocentrals 34–40, acrostichals 30–32, prealars 16–18, preepisternals 40–46, postnotals 3. Scutellum 16–18 setae.
Legs. Spur on foretibia 78–83 µm long without lateral teeth; spurs on midtibia 65–68 and 80–85 µm long with 8 and 7 lateral teeth; spurs on hind tibia 65–70 and 98–100 µm long with 6 and 7 lateral teeth; apex of ta 1– ta 3 of mid- and hind legs with 2 pseudospurs; weak comb on foretibia with 22 setae; comb on hind tibia double with 16 plus 20 setae. Hypopygium ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 3–6 ). Tergite IX concave, with 29 setae laterally on each side. Anal point conical. Gonocoxite 270–295 µm long, cylindrical, outer margin convex with 7 setae. Gonostylus 105–120 µm long, robust, swollen basally. Megaseta 8 µm long. HR 2.25–2.81, HV 4.29–4.64.
Female, pupa and larva. Unknown.
Distribution. The species was collected on the bank of Poyang Lake, a large mesotrophic lake in Jiangxi province in Oriental China.
