Lectotype (Oliver in Jarvis & al, Regnum Veg. 127: 25. 1993): Herb. Hermann 4: 61, lower right specimen " Blaeria Hort , cliff. 471" (BM-000628310) .

Generitype of Blaeria Linnaeus.

Current name: Erica ericoides (L.) E.G.H. Oliv. View in CoL ( Ericaceae ).

Note: The material designated as the type by Oliver, though in Paul Hermann’s herbarium, was not from Ceylon and so did not feature in Linnaeus’ Flora Zeylanica (1747). However, this South African collection was directly annotated by Linnaeus and is therefore original material for the name.
