Hyptis lantanifolia is widely distributed in Brazil and occurs in the Amazon, Caatinga, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest phytogeographic domains, in all regions except the South ( BFG 2015). Only one population was recorded for Rio Grande do Norte. For this reason, a conservation assessment cannot be inferred and the status of this species is considered DD. The habitat where H. lantanifolia was collected might be threatened by anthropic actions, such as agriculture.
