Mesosphaerum suaveolens View in CoL is distributed in the New and Old World tropics, and is found in Africa, the Americas and Asia ( Epling 1949). For Brazil, its had been recorded in the Amazon, Caatinga, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest and Pantanal, in every state in the country except Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina ( BFG 2015). In RN, it was recorded in areas of the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga, in restinga and semideciduous forests. It was registered in Parque Nacional da Furna Feia and Estação Ecológica do Seridó, which are conservation units in the state. Based on its extent of occurrence, this species was assessed as LC because it does not match any of the IUCN (2001) criteria.
