Family Smittinidae LEVINSEN, 1909 View in CoL Genus Smittina NORMAN, 1903

Colony erect or encrusting. Autozooecia with a perforate frontal wall. Aperture circular with lyrula and condyles, usually also a peristome. Oral spines may be present. Avicularia suboral, median and characteristically enclosed in the peristome. Adventitious avicularia may also occasionally be present. Ovicell deeply immersed with frontal pores.
