Remarks. Represented by four local color forms formally named as subspecies, this species is widely distributed in Oriental and Australian regions, with no distributional records in eastern islands of the Lesser Sunda Islands (such as Komodo I., Flores I., and Timor I.) and southern islands of the Moluccas (such as Buru I., Ceram I., and Ambon I.), where the closely related species, R. laticincta van der Vecht, 1962 , is distributed. The two species may co-occur on Bali I., Lombok I., Sumbawa I., and Sumba I. ( Kojima et al., 2005b). The specimens from Sulawesi I. that we examined possessed the same color pattern as that of the specimens from other islands of the Indonesian Archipelago (except those from New Guinea I.).

Distribution records: Indonesian Archipelago: Bangka I., Borneo I., Sumatra I., Nias I., Java I., Karimun Djawa I., Bali I., Lombok I., Sumba I., Sumbawa I., Tukang Besi I., Sulawesi I., Talaud I., Halmahera I., New Guinea I.; Indian subcontinent; Sri Lanka; Indochina Peninsular; southern parts of continental China; Philippine Islands; Mariana I.; Palau I.; Volcano I. (introduced); New Britain I.; Australia (Thursday I., Queensland) (van der Vecht, 1941, 1962; Kojima & Carpenter, 1997; Kojima, 2001; Kojima et al., 2005a, b; Nguyen et al., 2006b).
