Current name: Helianthus atrorubens L. ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Although authors such as Fernald (in Rhodora 48: 75. 1946) and Heiser (in Mem. Torrey Bot. Club 22(3): 196. 1969) treated the Dillenius plate (t. 94, f. 110) as type, Watson’s choice has priority.
