Type species: Coptorrhynchus wolterecki Günther, 1938 , by original designation.

Description. Integument black, legs ferruginous; with lines and scattered patches of white appressed scales; interspaces subglabrous. Head with vertex microreticulate, punctate-rugose, with scattered scales; angulate transverse sulcus separating rostral base. Eyes weakly asymmetrically convex, slightly drawn posteriad; separated from apex of prothorax by ca. 0.8 X length of eye. Rostrum as long as or slightly longer than wide, sides subparallel. Dorsum broad, with broad median costa bordered by sublateral squamose furrows; apical declivity distinct, with sunk-in scales; dorsal profile convex. Antenna. Scape slender; in cross-section subrotund; subapically weakly clavate; punctate-rugose; with suberect setae, without scales. Funicle with article 2 as long as article 1. Pronotum slightly wider than long; coarsely punctate; dorsum with four longitudinal lines of white scales, ventrolaterally with wider squamose band. Metanepisternum narrow, subglabrous. Elytra subovate; coarse punctures forming 10 regular striae; intervals nodulate, transversely rugose, with interspersed patches of white, densely overlapping scales. Legs. Protibia ventrally simple, without denticles. Venter. Procoxae subcontiguous, distance to apex 0.75 X distance to base of prothorax. Mesoventral process trapezoid, 1.88 X as long as posterior width. Abdomen. Male ventrites 1–2 ca. 1.5 X longer than ventrites 3–5. Female ventrites 1–2 convex, ca. 2.4 X longer than ventrites 3–5, evenly convex; female ventrites 3–5 more or less retracted dorsally. Ventrite 5 flat, subglabrous. Genitalia. Penis ( Figs. 35b , 36b ) with sides diverging to apex; subapically sides forming lateral ridges or projecting weakly pincer-like. Apodeme firmly attached to body. Transfer apparatus spiniform, curved.

Notes. This genus is closely related to Piezonotus Schoenherr , Mesocoptus Marshall and Temogastrus Marshall. Currently , two species are known from Sangihe and Banggai Island respectively. It is remarkable that to date none has been discovered in the intervening area of Sulawesi.
