Atactoglymma Heller View in CoL

Atactoglymma Heller, 1900: 22 View in CoL .

Type species: Atactoglymma spinipes Heller, 1900 View in CoL , by monotypy.

Description. Integument black, largely covered with appressed scales. Head with angulate furrow separating rostral base; vertex simple, without radial furrows. Eyes convex, protruding; separated from front margin of prothorax by ca. 0.8 X length of eye. Rostrum. Dorsum squamose; apical declivity distinct, with sunk-in scales; dorsal profile sinuate; on same level as forehead. Antenna. Scape slender, densely squamose, with suberect setae. Funicle with article 2 slightly longer than article 1 (1.1 X). Pronotum as long as wide. Metanepisternum elongate trapezoid, anteroventral margin with furrow. Elytra subovate, with 11 regular striae. Legs. Protibia ventrally denticulate, with ca. 3–5 distinct denticles; meso- and metatibia simple. Venter. Procoxae subcontiguous, distance to apex 0.3 X distance to base of prothorax. Mesoventral process trapezoid, 1.25 X as long as wide. Abdomen. Female ventrites 3–5 exposed, laterally 0.6 X length of ventrites 1–2. Genitalia. Penis ( Fig. 6c View FIGURE 6 , 7c View FIGURE 7 ) with apodeme 2.8–3.7 X as long as body of penis, loosely attached at base, but without flexible loop. Endophallus long, transfer apparatus flagelliform. Ovipositor long.

Note: The mesoventral process mentioned by Heller (1900) is in fact relatively wide in this genus. However, it does not seem to be sexually dimorphic as assumed by Günther (1938: p. 35) and Marshall (1956: p. 32), nor can it be regarded as of significant value in the classification of Celeuthetini . This genus is in need of a revision, based on more material than currently available. At least one undescribed species is at hand.
