scientific name

Tetragonolobus maritimus (L.) Roth
status

Lotus maritimus Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 773. 1753.

"Habitat in Europae maritimis." RCN: 5684.

Lectotype ( Domínguez & Galiano in Lagascalia 8: 197. 1979): Herb. Linn. No. 931.1 ( LINN) .

Current name: Tetragonolobus maritimus (L.) Roth View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Stearn (in Biol. J. Linn. Soc. 5: 11. 1973), in an account of Linnaeus’ Öland and Gotland journey of 1741, treated Grankulla in Öland as the restricted type locality, and noted the existence of 931.1 (LINN). In his paper, he attributed restricted type localities irrespective of whether any material existed in LINN and, where specimens do exist, he does not refer to any of them as type specimens. The collection subsequently designated as the type shows no annotation associating it with Öland.
