Basionym:— Polygonum vladichenicum Negru (1979: 66) .
Type:— UKRAINE. Odessa region, Bolgrad district, Vladychen’ village (holotype CHIS!, figured by Negru 1979: pl. 11, fig. 9).
Stratigraphy:— Upper Miocene (Messinian = Pontian).
Status:— Fruits.

Note:— The fossil fruits of Polygonum vladichenicum Negru (1979: 66) , described from the Upper Miocene (Pontian) sediments of the Black Sea shores (now Ukraine, formerly the U.S. S. R.), are to be referred to the genus Persicaria . Accordingly a new combination is here proposed.
