Neella Reuter, 1908a: 152 View in CoL .

Neella View in CoL : Carvalho 1957:112 (catalog); Carvalho 1954B:8 (key to species).

Type species: Eccritotarsus eucosmus Stål, 1862:323 . Fixed by Reuter 1908:153.

Espírito Santo material examined. Brazil: Espírito Santo: 1♂, Sta. Maria de Jetibá, Col.: Coelho, L. A. & Zanuncio Jr., J. S., 01/IV/2014 .

Diagnosis. General color reddish, yellowish, or both, with brown, black, or blue spots. Body oval with slightly rounded sides. Remarks. Carvalho (1945B) presented a diagnosis of the genus Neella with a key, diagnosis, and illustrations for six species of the genus. Carvalho (1954B) described and illustrated seven species and gave a key for 17 known species. Carvalho (1960) reported three genera belonging to the Neella complex ( Adneella , Neoneella , and Proneella ) with keys to identify the genera and species of Neoneella and Proneella . Species of Neella from Central America feed on the pollen of Dieffenbachia aurantiaca Engl. ( Araceae ) and use this plant as a mating site ( Barbosa et al. 2019). Alvarez-Zapata et al. (2022) published a synopsis of the Eccritotarsini of Colombia with a diagnosis and key to two known species.
