Neella lutescens (Stål) View in CoL ( Fig. 6-L View FIGURE 6 )

Eccritotarsus lutescens Stål, 1860:57 View in CoL .

Neella lutescens View in CoL : Bergroth 1922:17 (note, new combination); Carvalho 1957:113 (catalog).

Diagnosis. Species about 6.0 mm long; color uniformly yellowish to luteo red, except for eyes, antennae, and tibiae; antennal segment I usually black pale on the extreme apex; posterior tarsi black or fuscous; and cuneus longer than wide at the base. Males with posterior femora unicolorous and the right paramere not branched at the tip (Carvalho, 1945B). Male genitalia as figure 11-G.

Plant Associations. Araceae : Philodendron spp . ( Barbosa et al. 2019); Philodendron propinquum Schott (Nogueira et al. 2019A).

Distribution. Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo (Carvalho 1945B), Espírito Santo * (Linhares (M.I.R. 21); Paraguay ( Carvalho 1957); Peru ( Carvalho & Ferreira 1972).

Espírito Santo material examined. Brazil : Espírito Santo: 2♀ Arm. F.N., manta 1638, M.I. R. 21, 21/X/90 .

Remarks. Barbosa et al. (2019) investigated the pollination of Philodendron ( Araceae ) and reported the frequent presence of Neella lutescens nymphs and adults in inflorescences throughout the flowering cycle.Although N. lutescens is very common in the inflorescences of many Philodendron species, the insect-plant relationship between them needs additional study.
