Type Locality: "Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico (altitude 4,200 feet [1280 m])." .
Vernacular Names: Large-toothed Shrew.
Distribution: Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz, in mountains from 4000-9500 ft (1219-2896 m). See Heaney and Birney (1977).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Subgenus Otisorex . Similar to, and possibly conspecific with, veraepacis (see Junge and Hoffmann, 1981).
