Distribution: S Vietnam, S to Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Aletesciurus . Corbet and Hill (1992: 297) recognized four subspecies on Borneo, including hippurellus and inquinatus.
