Bathymetric distribution: 27–290 m —WBD.

Geographical distribution: USA (Eastern Florida) to Gulf of Mexico (Campeche Bank), West Indies, Brazil (AP, PA, CE, AL, BA, RS)—WGD.

Remarks: This species was originally referred as Cuspidaria braziliensis E. A. Smith, 1915 ( Smith 1915) and then transferred to the genus Plectodon Carpenter, 1865 by Pimpão et al. (2010). Huber (2010a) considered C. braziliensis as a synonym of P. granulatus .
