Bathymetric distribution: 0–68 m —SW.
Geographical distribution: Costa Rica to Brazil (SC)—C/B.
Remarks: D. nucleiformis (W. Wagner, 1840) is recorded from Brazil (e.g., Rios, 1994, 2009; Barroso et al. 2013a), but considered as a synonym of D. portesiana by Romera et al. (2013).
