261. Ctena orbiculata (Montagu, 1808)

Bathymetric distribution: 0–182 m —SW.

Geographical distribution: North Carolina to Brazil (FN, CE to RJ, SC)—WGD.

Remarks: Taylor and Glover (2016) suggested that the geographical distribution of this species is restricted to Florida. They also recorded C. imbricatula (C. B. Adams, 1845) from Brazil, referring to this species as distinct from C. orbiculata , and pointing out that previously these have often been synonymized. The fact that the Brazilian material identified as C. orbiculata is in reality C. imbricatula deserves future investigation.
