Bathymetric distribution: 0 m—SW.

Geographical distribution: Brazil (SP, RS), Argentina, and Chile —WGD.

Remarks: Simone & Penchaszadeh (2008) suggested that the Brazilian species is distinct from the European H. arctica (Linnaeus, 1767) and the Chilean H. solida (Sowerby, 1834) . Mikkelsen & Bieler (2007: 264) commented that "recent studies on Brazilian specimens of H. arctica show strong evidence of more than one species".
