Holotype.

NHMS - GT 21 , partial cranium.

Type locality.

Hetschburg near Bad Berka, Thuringia.

Type horizon.

Jena Formation, Lower Muschelkalk Subgroup. Age: Middle Triassic (Anisian: Aegean).

Diagnosis.

Distinguished by the following combination of features: supratemporal fossa proportionately long and narrow; sagittal crest present on posterior portion of parietals; anterolateral processes of parietals nearly extending to posterior orbital margins; and vomers fused ( Rieppel 2000).
