( Fig. 28 View FIGURE 28 , 37–38 View FIGURES 35 – 38 )

Diagnosis. Male. Clypeus with inverted polished cordate area; S1 sharply medially raised but not sagittally carinate; S2 not tuberculate; and cuspis truncate, distoventrally produced and hook-like in profile.

Description. Male. Head. Rounded, not emarginate posteriorly, not narrowed behind eyes; clypeus truncate, weakly convex, with inverted Y-shaped carina, branches curved to form polished, impunctate, cordate area, closely punctate laterally; antennal prominence with obscure V-shaped carina, produced below carina to antennal insertions; frons obscurely transversely carinate, rugosely punctate, obscurely sagittally carinate, not depressed; vertex closely punctate, impunctate posterolaterally to hind ocelli; gena closely punctate.

Mesosoma . Pronotum narrower than head, closely punctate to rugosely punctate, anterior margin emarginate, raised, carinate, acutely produced laterally; mesoscutum rugosely punctate; tegulae punctate; mesoscutellum closely punctate, weakly convex, subtriangular, truncate posteriorly; metanotum closely punctate, below level of mesoscutellum; propodeum oblique posteriorly, not transversely carinate, finely transversely rugosely punctate; fore coxae punctate; mesopleura closely to rugosely punctate.

Metasoma. T1–6 closely punctate, T1–5 sparsely punctate posteriorly; S1 rugosely punctate, S2–7 closely punctate; gradulus straight and scrobiculate on T2–5 and S3–5, straight and weakly scrobiculate on T6 and S6, obscure on S7; T1 truncate anteriorly, subtuberculate above truncation; S1 sharply medially raised but not sagittally carinate; S2 not tuberculate; hypopygium without basal angles; cuspis truncate, distoventrally produced and hooklike in profile; paracuspis of medium length.

Colour. Black; ocellar macula orange; wings weakly infuscate.

Length. Body 17 mm; fore wing 12 mm; hind wing 9 mm.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. Inland Queensland, Carnarvon National Park.

Etymology. The specific name is derived from Greek and refers to the similarity of this species to R. corrugatus .

Remarks. The polished cordate area on the clypeus uniquely distinguishes this species.

This species differs from R. corrugatus by: punctation closer and deeper, closely punctate to rugose-punctate on head, mesosoma and S1; S1 sharply medially raised; pronotum with anterior margin acutely produced laterally; mesoscutellum weakly convex; propodeum oblique posteriorly; T1 obliquely truncate anteriorly; S2 not tuberculate; paracuspis of medium length; and wings weakly infuscate. R. houstoni sp. nov. has the punctation on the head and mesosoma larger and deeper.
